#4 Weblog
A weblog, also known as a blog, is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayde in a reverse chronological order. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other bogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.
In the school of BA, it is common for each module to have at least one eLearning per semester. For eLearning, what the school would usually do is to have online discussion. This is done through the discussion board, where students are supposed to answer questions posted by the tutor. Other than that, students are also requested to comment on answers posted by their fellow classmates. This interaction is similar to that of a forum.
In my years at NP, I have also tried other eLearning methods like live chats. In one of my previous module, we tried to hold a live online discussion using MSN messenger. The result wasn't satisfactory at all. This is due to the limitations of the messenger. The messenger tends to lag with increasing active participants in the same chat window. We realize that the messenger could not hold a chat with more than ten participants.
In one of my current modules, I had another live chat experience. This time round, the tutor hosted the chat room under the BA server, thus we could have a smoother chat session. I think that it will be better to have a chat session under a more secured server, especially if there are more than ten participants.
In my opinion, I think that the best eLearning method would still be the discussion board as all entries are made available at all times during the term. The only bad point that I could think of would be that I would not be able to access that discussion page once I have completed the module. The only way to preserve all information posted in the discussion, would be to copy and paste them in a new document.
